I’ve been thinking (yeah, dangerous, I know) about my liking for pretty undies. It really dates back a long time. When I was a kid, the rage was the daily panties that had the days of the week embroidered on them. Oh how I wanted a set! But what I got were the plain white briefs… deadly dull, nothing pretty and they covered everything and then some!
When I left home to go to college, I didn’t have any money (what college student does?) but my mom got a department store credit card that billed her- in case I needed anything. Problem was, the store didn’t sell hardware or tools at all (what I could have done with a Sears card!), didn’t sell fabric and their dishes and housewares were both outrageously priced and impractical. What they sold was designer clothes, high end perfume, fine china and jewelry. So, since I needed to use the card every month or two, I settled on replacing my white briefs with something pretty- Maidenform Delectables, to be specific.
Since then I have gotten a nice thing or two once in awhile but mostly stuck to the “practical” things bought more for comfort and price than because they were lovely.
I’m done with that. I’m going to buy pretty things and wear pretty things even if no one else sees them.
